Usually no more than 30 minutes, depending on the procedure.

No food 4 hours prior to an Abdominal examination.

A full bladder is required for ultrasound Abdomen examinations.

Only a small needle prick if contrast is required for CT examinations.

Fine Needle Biopsies (FNA) use a needle to obtain the sample under local anaesthetic.

Contrast works as a highlighter around your organs to enhance the images that the Radiologist views and reports on.

If a MRI or CT scan is required you will need to be referred by a Specialist and MEDICAL AID authorisation is required.

The length of time for the report depends on the complexity of the scan, but is usually completed within 2 hours.
